In several parts of Kashmir valley, power remains disrupted on Thursday due to ongoing repair and maintenance work. Since the onset of winters, power outage has troubled residents multiple times and the trend is likely to continue in coming days.

Like every year, outages will be a routine for next six months,” Hilal Ahmed, a resident of downtown Srinagar complains.

According to power controller Kashmir, urgent repairs and preventive maintenance works will effect the supply of power in areas receiving electricity from 33 KV Lisser, Dooru from 9 am to 5 pm. Areas falling under 33 KV Nihalpora, HMT Line would have power shutdown on November 21, 23, 24 and 26 from 10 am to 5 pm.

Similarly, the 33 KV Chadoora Feeder emanating from 132/33KV Grid Sub Station, Pampore shall have power shut down on November 19 from 9 am to 5 pm.

“This is the time of the year when heating devices become indispensable. Yet state government fails to understand that pet-peeve needs to be addressed,” another resident from Old city Rameez says.

The administration recently decided to increase the power cuts in both metered as well as non-metered areas in the valley. The metered areas will face power cuts for about three to four hours everyday while as in the non-metered areas, which constitute the maximum areas will face power cut for about eight to ten hours.
